It is true that some styles and trends fade but some are classic and move on to the next year and so forth.
Below are some styles and grooming tips. Not all tips are include but it's the little things that help improve your style games.

Hairstyles
The pompadour will have another strong year in 2017 but the catwalk and celebrity trends are signalling the return of buzz cuts and long hair.
Beard Styles
Beards are still as popular as ever but moving more towards groomed and well kept. Beard oil is key in taming an unruly beard. The balboa and short beards are easy to maintain whereas the faded beard requires more maintenance but compliments a fade haircut extremely well.
Shaving
- Pre-shave oil -Apply this oil before shaving cream to reduce irritation.
- Shaving brush – This will create a superior lather and exfoliate your skin.
- Safety razor – Ditch the disposable and get a closer shave with a safety razor.
- Exfoliate – Exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells that clog your pores.
- Moisturize – Keep your skin healthy, energized and hydrated by moisturizing daily.
- Eye pads – Try under eye gel pads to reduce swollen morning eyes and dark circles.
- Sunscreen – Sunscreen isn’t just for vacation. Protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
- Color – Suit color comes down to two choices; grey and navy. The latter is far more versatile.
- Buttons – Play it safe and opt for a two-buttoned blazer that can be both smart and casual.
- Lapels – Wide lapels are in but only work if you have a broad stature. Anything over 3” will work.
- Cuffs – How much of your cuff should show? Experts differ but ¼” to ½” will add that special touch.
Although there are many creative ways to wear a tie, there are three knots every man should perfect for every occasion.
- Four-in-hand – Casual events
- Half Windsor – Business meetings
- Full Windsor – Formal events
- While some men opt for a shoe collection, only three are essential for a capsule wardrobe.
- Casual sneaker – For those dress down days a casual sneaker such as Converse All Stars will never go amiss.
- Brown boots – Brown boots are incredibly versatile. Leather is a safe bet but suede Chelsea boots are great for summer.
- Black dress shoe – The mighty Oxford will put you in good stead as a dress shoe for suit days and formal occasions.
- Cedar wood hangers – Cedar is excellent at absorbing water and repelling moths. Use the correct sized width to avoid stretching or drooping the shoulders.
- Shoe trees – These will maintain the shape of your shoes, particularly during travel and will prevent them from cracking.
- Shoe polishing kit – It’s not just about having clean shoes. Shoes need a good polish to remain healthy and conditioned.

Welcome to August 2016 Edition Review of Trendy Butler Subscription! This is now my third bag and again they just keep getting it right! Please check below where I review each item that I received. Before I get into that let me tell you a little about Trendy Butler.
Trendy Butler is a subscription based company and for $65 a month you get clothing worth $150+ and you get designer style clothes with a huge discount every month. Here’s how it works: You take a style quiz, and you get a box of 1-3 menswear items that you get to keep each month. Simple!
So here we go with the review:
In this installment I received three items each with their own qualities and comfort. The first item I received was a pair of Blue Indigo Stretchy Shorts from J.A.C.H.S. Co. Made from peached stretch sateen fabric crafted in there classic Bleecker fit short. These shorts are so comfy and soft to the touch and fit perfect. It's hard sometimes to find that perfect fitting shorts. They are either to tight/loose or to long/short. These ones hit the spot and since Florida is heavy on the heat these will be getting some good use. They retail for $75 and are currently on sale on J.A.C.H.S Co. for $45.00. Highly recommend these shorts.
The second item I received was a Muralla Grey Short Sleeve Henley Shirt from Cohesive & Co. I'm becoming a big fan of this company and their clothes. A little on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for with them. As I've said in my first review of Trendy Butler that I'm not a fan of the long big shirts, however this one is a huge exception. It goes great with the shorts and has the right length and fit to be a shirt I will wear a lot with other outfits. The going rate on this shirt is $88.
The last and final item I received was a pair of Atlas Purple and Grey Dress socks by Ministry of Supply. These socks rock! They're so form fitting and soft and you feel like the sock's are like a soft pair of slippers that hug your feet. These socks have a 4-way stretch Atlas fabric and are coffee-infused to control odor and also have wicking channels to control the moisture. These socks will run you about $15 a pair.
I also thought in this post that I would show the readers a little of how the outfit came together minus the socks. Hope you enjoyed this review and I wanted to give a nice shout out to Trendy Butler for their continued support and services on Upscale Geek.

The task seems simple enough, but when done correctly, in the right contexts, it announces manual dexterity and a masculinity rugged, relaxed attitude. Here I give a small guide to present you with the whys and hows of rolling up your sleeves. Sometimes it’s appropriate to roll up your sleeves.
Here are three reasons to roll up your sleeves:
1. Hot Outside -- Rolling up your sleeves when it’s hot allows air to make direct contact with your skin, thus cooling you down.
2. Rugged Style -- Rolling up your sleeves makes you look like you busted your ass all day at work and deserve that after work drink.
3. Casual Style -- If you’re going out and want to have some casual appearance behind your outfit, roll up your sleeves. Showing “too much effort” isn’t always the best option.
The Worker
First unbutton all sleeve buttons. After overcoming that hurdle, flip back your cuff so it’s inside-out. Repeat that process until your sleeve rests below your elbow. Perfect, now you have elbow pads just in case you need to rest your arms on a table.
Off the Clock
Once again, begin with the oh-so-difficult task of unbuttoning your sleeves and flipping your cuff back. Next, fold the cuff over and tuck it behind your sleeve, thus creating a band of fabric. Lastly, tuck the corners of your cuff into the band of fabric. Make sure the rolled up sleeve rests in between your wrist and elbow.
The Expert
If you haven’t figured out the first step by now, I’m not sure if there’s anything else I can do for you. Instead of folding the cuff after flipping it over, pull it back and stop just below your elbow. Fold the bottom of the inside-out portion of your sleeve until it covers the bottom of your cuff.
Now you look just a rugged as James Dean and you can show off your causal or rugged look of a masculine man.

Wearing a belt fashionably is one of those limitless tests of fashion. Being able to coordinate correctly confirms you're a man who knows his fashion. A mismatch or other error shows that you still need to learn a few things about dressing well.
Fortunately, the basics of good belts aren’t hard to learn, and most are common sense. The rest is up to you.
Men’s Belt Basics: Belt Length
Dress belts should have a few inches of leather to the left of the buckle once it’s fastened. Enough to tuck under your first belt loop, or the loop on the belt if it has one, is a good rule of thumb.Store-bought dress belts are usually measured with a range of pant sizes. Pick your belts two or three sizes larger than your pants to get a good fit. If you wear a 34″ trouser waist, a belt labeled 36″-38″ will probably be in the right neighborhood. The easiest way to check is just to try the belt on in the store. Just remember that it’ll sit a bit tighter when it’s worn properly.
Men’s Belt Basics: Belt Buckles
The bigger your belt buckle the less formal it is. Dress belts typically have very small, flat belt buckles (and tend to be narrower belts themselves). Larger buckles with rounded shapes are common on more casual styles. Almost all dress belts will have either a gold-colored or silver-colored finish. When choosing the color make sure that they match your jewelry or it will look off, the only exception is if you have a wedding ring. The ring is understood to be a gesture independent of your personal style.
Men’s Belt Basics: Belt Colors
Leather should always match leather. That rule stays with you in dress and casual wear: brown leather shoes go with a brown leather belt, and black with black. Glossy belts should be paired with highly-polished shoes; matte shoes go with matte belts. If you’re wearing casual shoes that aren’t made of leather, you have more freedom to work with. Cloth shoes can be paired with cloth belts of a different color.
Men’s Belt Basics: Styles of Buckle
There are a few common ways of holding your pants up. Most belts fall into one of these styles:
- Buckles with a tongue: the belt slides through a loop of metal, and a metal tongue is slipped through a hole in the belt to pin it down.
- Buckles with a hook: a flat metal (or plastic) plate is attached by slipping a hook on the back of the buckle through the front of the belt.
- Buckles with a sliding latch: the belt slides through a metal latch, inside which a vertical peg presses the belt into place.
- Braided belts: use a basic tongue buckle, but the belt is made of a woven leather braid rather than a flat piece of leather with punched holes. The tongue can slip between any two strands.
Men’s Belt Basics: Belts and Jean Labels
Speaking of designer goods, some high-end jeans have a famous label right between two of the belt loops. You may be tempted to leave the belt off, so that the label can be displayed more prominently.
Please do not do this, unless you like dad jeans. Unbelted jeans, even expensive ones, make you look tacky. Choose a slim belt that lets part of the label show and leave it to other people to notice your fantastic style — or not. If they weren’t in the know you weren’t going to impress them anyway, right?
So know that you know the basics, get out there and find your perfect belts to match your style.
